Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. What does a Physiotherapist do?

A physiotherapist is a primary care practitioner (no referral required) that can assess and treat all musculoskeletal injuries. Through the use of exercise therapy, manual therapy and other methods such as taping and dry needling (a form of acupuncture) they are able to reduce pain, improve range of motion and in some cases, improve sporting performance by altering movement mechanics and technique.

Q. Who can attend The Rowing Physio?

Anyone with an injury may attend an appointment with The Rowing Physio. Although Matthew has a special interest in Rowing Injuries, he has worked in a number of other environments that mean he can treat all ages and issues.

A referral is not required.

Q. What do I need to bring?

Although you do not need a referral, if another practitioner has referred you to The Rowing Physio, please bring any information and letters they have given you.

Please also bring any medical imaging including reports where possible.

Wear comfortable clothing that can be moved or modified where appropriate depending on what area of the body is being treated. Joint range of motion may need to be assessed so constrictive clothing like skins or jeans can reduce your ability to move adequately.
