Exercise Therapy

"If exercise could be packaged in a pill, it would be the single most widely prescribed and beneficial medicine in the nation"

Exercise therapy is the main premise behind physiotherapy (physical therapist) and a major component of rehabilitation.

Muscle strength and resistance training in particular is linked to a reduction in injury risk, an important factor to consider when returning from an injury. The last thing you want is to get back to sport or activity and then get injured again!

Exercise has numerous benefits, and these include:

  • Weight Loss
  • Reduce risk of heart disease
  • Improved performance of activities of daily living
  • Improved bone density
  • Improved mood and cognitive performance
  • Management strategy for anxiety and depression

And many others...

As such, it is important that exercise therapy is prescribed with any musculoskeletal injury. During your consulation at The Rowing Physio, you will have a Home Exercise Program (HEP) that will be helpful to improve your strength, restro range of motion and reduce your chance of re-injury.

Your home exercise program may include:

  • Muscle Stretches for Flexibility
  • Mobility Exercises for Joint Range of Motion
  • Strength Exercises with weights, resistance bands or equipment found in your house

Sometimes this may include exercises that are performed during or after your activity of choice to help improve your mobility as well as get your body ready for action.
